I have lived in three different countries and have been fortunate to meet many interesting people. What strikes me most about the human race is the multilayered quality of our feelings. We love our countries, our communities, our families and our new and old friends. But deep down inside we feel a bond to our heritage and our past.

The project is about the invisible ties that give us a sense of who we are. The first stage will be a photo essay on grandmothers and granddaughters, living in different countries but sharing a common bond, in the form of ideas, foods, heirlooms, their birthplaces, and more.

The project has the potential to grow in many different directions. Man has been moving from the beginning of known history. Where do we really belong?
